Commodore has announced a new edition of the Suncom TAC-2 (Totally Accurate Controller) joystick. The original unit was popular on classic systems such as the Commodore 64 and the Amiga.
Physical Construction & Technical Specifications
The reproduction is built to match the original mechanical specifications and physical dimensions.
- Connector: Standard 9-pin DE-9 (DB9) connector. It connects directly to original retro hardware, including 8-bit and 16-bit systems. It does not feature a USB interface.
- Internal Contact Mechanism: Utilizes the classic short metal shaft contact design rather than microswitches. A metal ring makes contact with a brass collar when tilted.
- Fire Buttons: Two fire buttons wired in parallel for a single action.
- Housing: Black plastic base, red fire buttons, and a chrome-plated shaft with a black ball top.
